Cancer, Sickness, and Grief

Cancer, Sickness, and Grief

James 1:2 says to consider it pure joy when you encounter trials of many kinds, God is allowing your faith to be tested. He’s also gonna show up in the biggest way when we are at our lowest points in life. My mom posted on her Facebook a passage from 2 Corinthians 5:1-10. It talks about our glorious new bodies we will receive when we get to walk with God. The vessels we call our bodies now, are sinful harbingers of destructive forces. If we have evil in our hearts, our bodies will easily succumb to death and despair.

The passage reads,”For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling, if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked. For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened—not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.”

Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. If we just have the faith of a mustard seed, we can do amazing things through Gods power.

Romans 8:38-39 talk about how inseparable we are from Gods love. Nothing, not even Satan himself, can sever us from Gods grasp. We are made in His image and Likeness. So cancer is really just a way for us to go meet Him. It’s like a taxi sent by God to pick us up to take us home.

As for my uncle Danny who has been through operation after operation including a heart operation, both feet and most of his left leg, diabetes, and has just been diagnosed with liver cancer, and has just been taken off all life sustaining medications, a true hero and fighter, he has heaven to look forward to.  It’s only a matter of time before he goes home. While it will be sad for us to see him go, we need to take comfort in that he is home.

1 Peter 5:7 says to cast your cares upon Jesus because He cares for us. image

It says do not fear 365 times in the Bible, one for every day of the year. When we are scared, it means we don’t trust God to take care of us, when He provides our needs daily. Whether you are dealing with cancer, sickness or grief, we just need to remember that God has already won. When we die and leave this world, we go home with Him. image

Preparing For The Spiritual Battle

Preparing For The Spiritual Battle

Luke 22:36

He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one.

Guess who that was. It was Jesus saying that. He knew us Christian soldiers would be faced with rejection and He knew that it would get violent. That violence is at an all time high now, with The Islamic State knocking on the door hoping to covert us or kill us. We are not supposed to just sit here and take it.  Psalm 144:1 says, “Bleesed be the Lord my Rock Who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle.” David was protected by God form the time he was a boy, fighting lions and bears defending the flock, and fighting the Phillistine Goliath. He was faithful in trusting God. We also must trust God and do not worry, because in the Bible, it says,”do not fear” in 365 times.

We are to be peaceful, but when war is waged against us, He has prepared a victory in Our favor

God uses the called in the most amazing ways. If He only called the qualified to do His work, Jesus would be a really busy guy. Luckily, Jesus paid the price so we could be worthy to be called His sheep.

ISIS is a force of Satan under the guise of Allah, and followers of the evil prophet Mohammad, or however you spell it. They want peace but it has to come under the way of everyone converting to Islam, or dying. If you don’t convert, they behead you, or simply crucify you publicly. Remember though, we are not the true target, Jesus is. If we are persecuted for His sake, we are blessed.
